Committed Conservative, Proven Winner.
Meet Marci Houseman
An education disruptor turned city leader, Marci Houseman brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in education and a rock-solid commitment to conservative values. From the classroom to the principal’s office to the Sandy City Council, Marci has consistently championed the principles of the Utah Republican Party and put families first.
Her commitment to our party and love of country was passed down from her parents. Her mom was deeply passionate about and supportive of their local and national GOP and her dad served our country in the military. Those values helped guide her dedication to leaving the world a better place than she found it by embracing and implementing conservative values.
Marci’s work in education spans both elementary and secondary levels, with a strong focus on returning to the basics, empowering parents, and supporting teachers. As the principal of a Title I school, she prioritized academic fundamentals, implemented programs that respected parental rights, and defended traditional educational values—leading a struggling school toward real success. As a board member of the Beehive Science & Technology Center, one of the largest STEM charter schools in the state, she has experience across all levels of education.
In 2019 and 2023, Marci won competitive elections to the Sandy City Council, earning the endorsement of the Salt Lake County Republican Party in her re-election bid. She has a strong track record of responsive, fiscally responsible leadership. Marci has consistently stood against unnecessary tax increases, defended private property rights, and worked alongside conservative leaders at the city, county, and state level to advance common-sense government.
Beyond her public service, Marci has long been a grassroots leader in the Salt Lake County Republican Party. She has led training sessions for GOP candidates, served as a state and county delegate, and played a key role in organizing county conventions. Her leadership has helped strengthen the party and prepare the next generation of Republican leaders.
Marci Houseman is ready to bring her unmatched combination of education experience and conservative conviction to the State Board of Education. She’ll fight for parental rights, protect curriculum transparency, and ensure Utah’s schools reflect the values of the families they serve.

Marci has the Blueprint for Victory
This district is the most competitive State Board seat in Utah. In 2024, Kamala Harris beat President Trump here and the State Board race was decided by fewer than FIVE points—with Republican Molly Hart (now our state superintendent) beating Democrat John Arthur.
Arthur spent over $110,000 in just a few months and has already pledged to run again. He has been a public spokesperson for the National Education Association and UEA, was introduced at a Senate hearing by Bernie Sanders, and has been on national news being praised by former First Lady Jill Biden.
This election, you aren’t just voting for who will hold this seat for a few years. You are voting for who can hit the ground running to keep this seat in Republican hands. Winning tough elections is not easy—that’s why Marci is running. She has the experience to not just be a placeholder, but to enact conservative education policy for years to come. Marci’s blueprint for victory isn’t just a theory; it’s a proven method that has helped elevate conservative values in a swing area.
Marci puts in the work: Sandy has become a major focus of Democrats, from the state to the local level. Marci has beaten more progressive opponents in City Council elections in Sandy—in both 2019 and 2023. She won by personally knocking hundreds of doors and engaging in modern campaign tactics, such as digital advertising, to reach and persuade voters.
Marci has the relationships to win: Marci is a constant presence in her local community and in the education community. From educators and parents to community members and legislators, she will win the voters we need to keep this seat red.
Marci knows how to raise money: A State School Board district is twice the size of a State Senate district, making it the largest state district other than congressional districts. Marci has raised tens of thousands of dollars in her runs for local office and will hit the ground running early to raise the money to reach voters.

Marci’s Principles
Some politicians will say whatever they need to get elected. Marci has a track record you can trust. Whether serving on the City Council or on the State Board, Marci brings a proven set of conservative principles that have guided her service and professional career.
Local Control: Too often, the role of local government takes a backseat to the political conversations at the federal level. However, it is at the local level where the water hopefully gets to the end of the row. The implementation of conservative principles at the local level has an immediate and direct impact on people's lives. Marci strongly believes in the importance of letting local districts and parents make decisions, not using the heavy hand of state bureaucracy.
Grassroots Engagement: Marci believes that those who take the time to show up deserve to be heard. She will prioritize listening to conservative voices, parents, and educators and champion their voices—not just the viewpoints of a select group.
Individual Freedom: Marci believes that conservative leaders govern best when they prioritize getting the government out of the way and letting individuals thrive. She will champion choice in education, because one size doesn’t fit all.
Removing Burdensome Regulations: Marci knows that regulation can stifle innovation, especially in education. She will bring her decades of experience in education, as well as her time on the City Council, to identify and remove regulations which harm classroom educators, parents, and local districts.
